Thanks to a beautiful day, and the commitment and energy of over 120 registered volunteers, the CNG team managed to collect the most bags of garbage of any neighbourhood group in the city. Final count was just over 180 bags of garbage, plus a mattress, bike, lumber, hockey sticks, and other assorted paraphernalia. The City of Guelph had issued this challenge, and was awarding a child's bike to the neighbourhood group that collected the most trash. We then asked our volunteers to enter ballots in case the CNG won the contest. Once notified that we had been successful, a ballot was drawn at our regular monthly meeting at the Royal on Gordon. The lucky winner was Kyleigh McClennan, aged 4. This proves that no matter how young, or old, you are, you can pitch in to make the neighbourhood a better place.
