Neighbours Helping a Local Family in Need
We need your help to provide a Great Christmas to a family in need...
The Clairfields Neighbourhood has chosen to 'Adopt a Family' - a scheme run by the Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington to help a local family at this special time of year. We need your support to provide a wonderful season to 'our' selected family who live in the Guelph area.
We have 'adopted' a family of a single dad, who has recently been made unemployed, with 2 children - Catherine, a girl of 5yrs, Jesse, a boy of 4 yrs.
I know that we have a kind and supportive neighbourhood and I know we can make a difference to this family.
We may be lucky enough to provide a wonderful time for our families and our children - here's the chance to give back a little to our community, or teach our children the spirit of the season.
Even a donation of $5-$10 from each family in our neighbourhood can make a huge difference to this family.
The family have a Wish List - which includes for the children "any new clothes" (that part breaks my heart).
They also require bedding, and have listed puzzles, books, crafts, crayons, Dora items, Hot Wheels etc.
HOW CAN YOU HELP:
Basically there are three ways:
- donate a gift from the list (below)
- donate cash - towards purchasing gifts/cards
- donate a grocery or hydro gift card (in part if necessary)
To avoid duplication of items, I have created a list of individual items of clothing and toys.
- Contact me to delete from the list an item you would like to purchase.
- You can also donate cash, and I can purchase a selected item for you.
- or you can contribute towards buying a gift card from a grocery store, or from Hydro etc (we aim to buy at least $75 worth of grocery vouchers from Zehrs or Food Basics).
- or you can provide a laundry basket, tote box, or cloth bag to place items in.
- or you can buy wrapping paper, bags, etc and supplies also required
Note: all gifts need to be new, unwrapped and provided with a gift receipt preferably.
You could provide enough wrapping for your chosen gift if you require - but do not wrap.
We have until end of November to achieve our goal of delivering the items to the Children's Foundation - so PLEASE help in the next 2 weeks.
I know we can make a difference to Dad, to Jesse and to Catherine this year.
Please contact me via email or telephone as to how you can help (see below).
Also forward this to neighbours or friends who may not be on the Clairfields Neighbourhood Group email list - or suggest they go to website to add their name to receive emails and updates.
This email is being sent only to people who have registered their email address already.
An idea - my work colleagues are not exchanging gifts this year - we are all contributing to purchase items for this family - maybe you and your families and colleagues would like to do the same??
